My name is Brian Dahl and I have been training in the Chikara Budokai system under Shihan Ross Greenberg since 2005. As a student who had practiced in several different arts with several different teachers, I was on a quest to find the right system and teacher. This quest ended when I had found both Shihan Ross as well as Chikara Budokai. To truly understand the amazing training, I would recommend trying it first hand, however I will discuss some of the things that I believe make Chikara Budokai a great system. Some schools have teachers who only care about money and not their students. This is NOT Chikara. Some schools hand out rank without having students truly earn them. This is NOT Chikara. Some schools teach their students how to hurt people. This again is not Chikara. Chikara Budokai is the most practical and effective art I have ever encountered that teaches the students how to defend them selves as well as avoiding unnecessary violence. The environment while training allows the students to feel very welcome as well as imbuing tradition and martial aspects into each student. However, the best part of Chikara Budokai in my opinion is the Shihan Ross continuously strives to apply high levels of adaptability to the system and the training of the students. This allows for heightened levels of efficiency as well as allowing any student to find something they really love and enjoy in the system.
